カラカラに干からびて生気を失ったにぼしからは「儚い死」、「孤独」、「冷たさ」を感じる。あるとき、太陽に照らされたにぼしを見た。陽の光を含んだにぼしは七色に鈍く輝き出し、決して主張しすぎないその控えめな煌めきから、微かに生命の灯火を感じた。それ以来 にぼしに心を奪われ、にぼしをモチーフにした作品を様々な画材で描く。デフォルトされた13の特徴的な「にぼし」が細かくびっしりと敷き詰められ た作品は、ステンドグラスのような優美な輝きとその生き物が持つ本来の「色」を表現。具象の中に精密が同居する 唯一無二の作風で観る人を釘付けにする。
RedBull Ignition大阪・アメリカ村街路灯アートプロジェクト、コニカミ ノルタ×雑誌『Pen』エコ＆アートアワード、SHIBUYA ART AWARDSなどで入賞。

自身のアートレーベル『NIBOSHI&(にぼしと)』では全国の水族館での個展にとどまらず、アパレルブランドなど様々な業界を巻き込み、『NIBOSHI』の新たな可能性を追求している。
NAMIKO (NIBOSHI&)
Born in 1985 in Nagoya, Aichi, Japan.
NAMIKO is a Japanese artist whose work centers on niboshi (dried sardines) as its primary motif.
To many people, a dried sardine evokes fragility, loneliness, and the stillness of death. One day, however, NAMIKO noticed a niboshi illuminated by sunlight. Bathed in the light, its surface shimmered with subtle rainbow hues. In that quiet, understated radiance, she sensed the faint glow of life. This encounter marked the beginning of her fascination with niboshi and inspired her lifelong artistic pursuit.
Using a wide range of media, NAMIKO creates intricate compositions built from thirteen stylized niboshi forms. Arranged in dense, meticulously detailed patterns, her works resemble stained glass, expressing both the inherent colors of aquatic life and the delicate beauty hidden within ordinary subjects. Her distinctive style seamlessly combines meticulous realism with abstraction, captivating viewers through its extraordinary precision and visual depth.
Her work has received awards in projects including the Red Bull Ignition Osaka – Amerikamura Streetlight Art Project, the Konica Minolta × Pen Magazine Eco & Art Award, and the SHIBUYA ART AWARDS.
NAMIKO has held numerous solo and group exhibitions, including "Flat Aquarium" at Takeshima Aquarium (Aichi), "Kirakira=Boshi" at átoa (Kobe), "NAMIKO" at Chitose Aquarium (Hokkaido), and "Les Petits Poissons de NAMIKO" at Aquarium de Paris (Paris, France).
Through her own art label, NIBOSHI&(niboshito), NAMIKO presents solo exhibitions at aquariums throughout Japan while collaborating with apparel brands and organizations across diverse industries. Through these activities, she continues to explore new artistic possibilities inspired by the humble niboshi.
